My students need a self-regulation toolkit, Emotiblocks, and Feeling Fair Game to supplement our Social Skills curriculum.

Social Skills is the biggest challenge that we face in our Early Childhood classroom. Before we can really take on the academic expectations, we first must develop social skills. Pre-Kindergartners need to learn to manage emotions, cooperate with their peers and respect others.
I work with twenty 4 and 5 year olds living in a low-income urban district.
My students come with a wide range of pre-education experiences and abilities. We are the only pre-k classroom in a Pk-3 school. I have a very loving and excited group of students who are open to learning and being a part of their classroom community.
We currently have a social skills curriculum used in the classroom, but are lacking the supplemental resources need to engage the students and make it applicable. These games will be played in small groups to reinforce the feelings and skills that we have talked about as a whole group. The self-regulation materials will be added to our "calm down corner" to help guide students through their emotions and appropriate ways to manage those feelings.
These materials will increase the hands-on experiences and manipulatives that the students get to interact with.
These items will be integrated into their own play which will make them more applicable to their own lives and help them make the connection between the toys and their own feelings. Implementing a strong social skills curriculum at the pre-k level with help the students be more successful at school and in life.
