“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I will learn.” By involving and engaging students in mathematics and literacy using a hands-on approach, students will exceed learning expectations.
Our school is unique and truly reflects the diversity of our community.
In our inclusive setting, we have students of various abilities, modalities, and strengths. Our classrooms and instructional choices need to match our students' dynamic needs, so that together we continue to learn and thrive. What makes our school so special is our passion for learning. This June, our school recently transitioned to a modified, year round calendar. Students will be continuously learning throughout the entire year. In addition, our school just launched a program called Leader in Me. Stephen Covey created this program as a means to encourage and empower students to find their unique abilities and unveil the leader within themselves by building upon individual strengths. We've just recently launched the program and are happily practicing the 7 Habits of Happy Kids.
My Project
There are numerous ways that the students in my classroom will be able to use the LCD Boogie Board writing tools. With the use of 20 Boogie Boards we will be able to practice pencil grip, handwriting, letter and number formation, spelling, word building, sentence formation, illustrations, thinking maps, brainstorming, patterns, shapes, counting, addition, subtraction, and so much more! The boards will be used during both whole group and small group learning. Each day, I work with small reading and math groups based on their proficiency in different areas. The students will use the boards to show their understanding of the skills that we are working on. These boards will also be a great way to teach our young leaders about going green and reducing the amount of paper and dry erase markers that we use in our classroom each day.
The Boogie Board LCD eWriters will provide students with an engaging way to practice reading, writing, and math skills in my classroom.
The boards will provide students with a different means to record thinking and understanding, other than by using the traditional paper and pencil method. These tablets will reduce the amount of paper and dry erase markers used in our classroom and teach students about being responsible for our environment.
