Every morning we start the day off the same way. We all chant, “I am smart! I am very smart! The harder I work, the smarter I get!” This chant sets the mood for the rest of our day as my students work extremely hard to master each and every one of their learning standards.
Hello everyone!
I am a fourth-grade teacher working for a high poverty school district located in rural mid-Missouri. Our small elementary school provides education to a little over 400 students (K-4).
My classroom consists of 22 bright and enthusiastic learners! I spend much time planning every week to better ensure that my students enjoy coming to school. I create partner and group activities. I also have reading and math stations that allow the students to interact with technology and get up and move around. In addition, I find stories and lessons that relate to their lives. Though I do try hard to make school fun and enjoyable, I could use some additional help with making it comfortable. (This is where you come in!)
My Project
Our classroom is in need of carpets for our library area. The two carpets which I have requested will fit the area perfectly and will allow for multiple uses! They will provide a warm and cozy place for students to relax as they are reading quietly. Seeing as we use this area for more than just reading, these carpets will also provide students with a soft area to move around on during math stations, reading centers, group activities, and projects. Lastly, these carpets will be used as a comfy seating area for small-group instruction.
Many students spend as much time in the classroom as they do at home.
As a result, classrooms should reflect warmth, coziness, and security. These carpets will not only provide additional areas for learning, but they will also help to create a sense of warmth and coziness in the classroom. Please help our classroom feel more like a home!
