Our kids love to move. The old adage might say that a rolling stone gathers no moss, but our experiences have shown us that a student in motion is a student who can learn.
Our students are bright, inquisitive and unique!
We are a suburban district outside of a large Midwestern city. If you were to visit our classrooms, you'd see walls covered with student work, students engaging in collegial talk, and teachers showcasing their passion for their subject.
My Project
Whether our students are participating in a gallery walk to find answers for a study guide or traveling to an area in the classroom to take a stance on an issue, many of our students learn best if they are able to move during the class period. However, certain activities require seatwork, which poses a problem for those who need to move in order to process and focus. Our project will provide bouncing bands for the chairs of students who need to expend some extra energy while working, as well as fidgets (putty and stress balls) that will keep hands occupied so that their minds can concentrate on the task in front of them.
Your donation toward our project will directly aid students in focusing in on daily tasks, which translates to better grades and increased learning.
We want our students to move their bodies while growing their brains. We hope this project will help our students to continue to move toward the goal of lifelong learning!
