My Students
Have you ever done crafts in math class? My kids get excited when they come to math class where we do hands-on projects that require understanding the concepts without the students realizing it.
My students come from a diverse community of 117,000+.
With a school size of 1600+, the students I get are some of the best! We are a Title 1 school where family support and classroom budgets are hard to come by. With all the different types of backgrounds (rich, poor, homeless, homed, divorced, merged family) I am able to reach my students and keep them engaged through our interactive notebooks.
My Project
All of these craft supplies that we are asking for will allow us to do many small projects throughout the year. Our interactive notebook is a daily project. We do anything from taking notes with markers, making flip charts, and visualizing transformations, to gluing and taping to make 3D shapes. These daily projects give students a desire to come to my classroom.
I have had students tell me before that they love coming to my classroom because, "I don't feel like we are learning anything but when it came to test time I knew it all." This excited me to do more and better for my students.
With the small daily projects we will do in our interactive notebooks, I expect grades and attendance to improve, in turn making my students better during their school career.
