My Students

Students need to move! They need to be active! My students are amazing students, but sitting still is not for them!

I have 24 very active second graders.

They don't walk down the hall, they bounce. They don't stand still, they wiggle. Sitting still in class is a thing of the past with these kids. This group of kids though love to learn. They love to think, create, invent and imagine. What they love even more is having movement while the learn. They concentrate better, are more alert and have a deeper understanding of what they learn when they are active.

My Project

We don't ask adults to sit still all day, so how can we ask students to sit still. These hokki stools would give my students the opportunity to move while they learn without being disruptive. They would have the opportunity to sway and wiggle while thinking and learning. This would give them the opportunity to concentrate while being active. I can especially see my students who struggle to focus benefiting from these hokki stools. The extra movement from the hokki stools will help their brains focus more on the work and less on their bodies.
