My Students

My students are eager to learn.
They are beginning to see how the world can open up to them just by learning to read. I teach in a low income area where 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches. Students come to school with very little supplies but with the desire to learn and grow.
My Project
I'm beginning a Jolly phonics group where kids will be all on the same level. The dry erase boards and markers will be great for these students to practice writing the sounds they hear and writing simple CVC words. I can do a quick check for understanding as the kids are working. The chart paper will be great for us to do shared writing that can be kept up in our room throughout the year.

These kids deserve every opportunity to learn even if money isn't available for these basic supplies. With my students using hands on materials they will be able to grasp the concepts quickly. I can also be able to see who is struggling much quicker and help them immediately.
