Mrs. Moore from Saint Louis MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a laptop to go along with our Promethean board.

My students have a love for learning through different methods, not only individually but also through peer tutoring. Many students do not have the opportunity to express themselves through technology. I hope this year is the year that students will reach for the stars!
I teach in an inner city urban school district.
We are a Title 1 school and 95% of the students qualify for free/ reduced meals. The population includes 80% African Americans, 10% Whites, and approximately 10% of the population is from other countries. Our school is a career orientated school. We do our best to include all of our students no matter where they are from or what their skill levels are. Being a special education teacher I assist those students who have special needs to be successful in what career options they choose. I have approximately 75 students that I teach British Literature & Composition and Law. These students have a wide range of learning disabilities, from Learning Disabled to Autism. Our state has just adopted a new set of standards that resemble the Common Core standards. We are currently finding new ways to teach the standards so they master the skills in all subjects.
With the use of a laptop in the classroom, I will be able to teach my students how to create reports, resumes, power points, and be able to use peer tutoring through their weekly assignments and assessments. They will be able to take assessments and prepare for school benchmark and EOC (End Of Course) assessments. I want my students to have fun while learning, what better way then introducing them to the wonders that technology can bring..
In the classroom students will also be able to become comfortable and familiar with testing on a computer, this way when test time comes students will not be filled with anxiety.
My students will be able to work individually on a skill, or review their previous assessments through the laptop. Students will be engaged through the use of technology wether it is through testing or projects.
