My students need a digital upgrade to bring them into the 21st century. We need computer speakers, laptop accessories and tools, timers, cameras, and an SD card.
My students are eager learners who collaboratively work together, excited to learn new things, and persevere through challenges both academically and personally. I provide hands-on learning through classroom computers, discussion, singing, and movement of body. My class is a work in progress.
I teach third grade students in a poverty ridden area.
Students in my class are seven and eight year-old kids who are eager to try new things and to make an impression on the world. My students take ownership for their learning and are proud of their accomplishments. By cooperating, collaborating, and following the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, my students are learners with limited technological resources.
My school is a Leader in Me school and is working to teach kids that they have the power to change their lives and the lives of others. My class leaders use the tools they learn in school throughout their daily lives. Students use their Chromebook to research topics, listen to books on tape, record presentations, play educational games, and learn third-grade curriculum. Students use what they learn to teach others about the world around them and encourage others to blaze a path of endless and passionate learning.
My Project
My students need a digital upgrade to bring them into the 21st century. We need computer speakers, laptop accessories and tools, timers, cameras, and an SD card. The digital tools that I am requesting will help create new opportunities for all kids in my class. I am able to create customized lessons for my students and hear their response through the speaker system that I am requesting. Students will be able to listen to music while they work (a theory that validates and supports our analytical knowledge), and replay fluency passages. Students will be able to record lessons taught in class with the Polaroid camera and then play it back for further comprehension.
This type of technology puts powerful tools in the hands of students which can be used with a more student-centered approach to curriculum which challenges students to find answers to problems and to create meaningful digital products. Students will co-author documents and share them in Goggle Classroom, create a presentation and portfolio in Movenote, and continue authentic on-going assessments.
Living in the 21st Century, students need to know how to use technology in order to have a successful career.
Students with technology at their fingertips have the ability to touch the world. Technology will improve my classroom by providing access to different media. From cameras to presentations, students will construct, assess, differentiate, critique, and synthesize work that they have created themselves. Students will learn different aspects of technology as they explore hands-on tools.
