Writing for second graders can seem pretty boring. In our room it is an exciting time to explore creativity while also focusing on our writing standards. My students are learning to love writing more every day!
My students are happy, energetic and eager to learn.
They show up every day excited about what we will learn! Our class is small but mighty and we are just one small piece of a very large school community. Our building is very large with over 600 students! Our building focus is on critical thinking, collaboration and creativity this year and my students are loving the way this effects their learning each day!
My Project
I am requesting some specific items that will help my students become more engaged in writing. I've requested a director's chair to be used as our "Author's Chair". I'd like to use it for students to sit in each day to share their writing with the class. I've also requested two saucer chairs for students to use as a place to go sit, edit and collaborate on their writing together! I've also requested some writing necessities like a pencil sharpener to help keep us organized and prepared, colored markers for students to use with editing and revising so they can track their changes visually and easily. I've also requested a set of blank books for students to use when they are ready to publish their work in a formal way!
These items are items that my students will be excited about and are items they will use every single day!
These chairs will make my students feel more engaged in collaborating together by giving us specific spaces to share with each other. The supplies like markers, pencil sharpeners, and blank books will give all students plenty of supplies to use through the year without the worry of running out towards the end! These tools will enhance our writing by helping us focus on our standards!
