Noises, talking, group work, centers are many of the things that can cause a distraction to a 7 or 8 year old trying to work independently.
I have a group of second grade students each year who are highly motivated learners.
They strive to meet my high expectations each day in the classroom. We spend most of our morning engaged in reading and writing activities. My students love having their own space to work as well as resource readily available without the need to share.
My Project
The privacy screens will be used by each student to set-up their own personal office at their desks. This will provide the students personal work space while other students may be engaged in other activities. I want to also create a writing office on the inside of the screens for the students to use as a reference when we are in writers workshop. The laminating pockets will protect the pages to create this before taping it down.
My students will be able to focus more directly on their work in front of them and less to the distractions around them with these privacy screens.
By also turning the screen into a writing office, it will give my students a reference chart that is easily accessible any time that it may be needed.
