My students need granola bars, crackers, cereal, etc. to help nourish their bodies, which will nourish their minds so they can focus on learning instead of their empty stomachs.

My Students

"Hunger can be found in all over the country, affecting one in five children. Hungry children struggle to concentrate in class, visit the school nurse with stomach aches, and may act out because they are hungry." This quote relates to my project because I want to provide my students with snacks.

Most of my students are receiving free and reduced priced lunch and cannot afford to bring a snack to school every day.

My students are the lowest leveled in reading out of all the second graders and need all the help they can get. My school has many students who are on free and reduced priced lunch.

My Project

My students will use the snacks to help nourish their body so they can focus on their learning. My students have to go over 5 hours without eating from the time they have breakfast and when they are provided lunch. Not all of my students can afford to bring a snack everyday and it is heart breaking to watch students go without. I am currently providing snacks out of my own pocket for my whole class so that they are all receiving the same snack and no one is being left out or hungry. My students will be able to not worry about being hungry and be able to pay attention when I am teaching.

Donations to my project will improve my classroom because my students will now not have to worry about when the next time they get to eat and be able to only have to focus on learning.

It will change the lives of my students for the better because they will be able to achieve at higher levels and become better students.
