Art Posters and DVDs to Replace Irrelevant Materials
My students need new and exciting posters and DVDs to inspire their creativity. The posters and VHS tapes we have now are outdated and irrelevant to my students needs.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are high energy learners who crave new and exciting materials for learning. They are hands-on and visual learners who need lots of POP to hold their attention. My students usually stand instead of sit in their art stools, that's how much movement they need in just one hour of art.
My students are silly, funny kids.
They are energetic and ask a lot of questions, including ones about art styles and artists. It is hard for me to answer a lot of these questions without relevant materials to use as reference. My kids are curious about the world around them and they are excited every time they come into the art room. It is a fun high energy classroom with very limited materials. I feel the art department has fallen short of supporting the needs of my students in the visual arts. Let's serve these kids in the right way by supporting their fine arts education!
My Project
My students will use the materials I am requesting in multiple ways. The poster sets will be hung on the wall to be used as references to teaching and the Mona Lisa poster will be used to inspire creativity. Posters will be hung not only in the art room to be used as reference, but in the hallway for all of the school to witness different styles of art. I am especially excited to hang to Egyptian series of art posters that go with the 6th grade lesson on Egypt. We need 6 Egyptian stencil packages so that everyone in the class (around 18) can have their own to work with. In addition to go with the Egyptian theme, we need 10 packages of Egyptian pyramid projects (200 in total) for the upper grades to utilize. The DVD sets will replace the old and irrelevant VHS tapes that we have had for over 20 years. Art Bingo will be a fun way for my students to learn art concepts. The inspiration quotes will be read to my students daily to inspire them to be creative while they are working.

The art department in our building will be fresh and new to inspire creativity in my students. Creativity is SO important in schools, not just in the art room but in other areas as well.
