My students are active and aware of their progress in learning. They try hard every day.
We have been focused on setting goals this year, but my biggest challenge is having students answer honestly. This is because they may feel a little embarrassed if they don't understand the lesson that day.
I have curious, active, and kind students.
They love to know why, what, and when. They seek out the answers too. They love to show what they know, and are hesitant to ask questions in math. They want to succeed, and try their hardest each day to do so.
They love to move around, dance, sing, do actions, and participate. These beautiful minds treat each other with kindness that sets an example to anyone who peeks in.
We are located in a suburban area, but we are a Title 1 school. That means that a large number of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Some are even provided snacks and weekend meals.
My Project
I know that you're thinking, "Flashlights, really?", but I'm so excited about the possibility to have them!
With flashlights, I can increase student engagement and involvement. What students doesn't LOVE doing activities in the dark with a flashlight?
We will be able to:
1. Practice word wall words (words all 4th grade students should be able to read and spell).
2. Complete review practice for all subjects.
3. Say where we are in our learning without being afraid.
All of these items on posted on the wall. We would use the flashlights at our seat and shine them on our answers. If all lights on the same answer or same understanding, I would know that all students are feeling successful. If a few lights (or many) were shining elsewhere, I'd know I'd need to review the concept.
Hopefully, through using the flashlights, students will be able to learn to be proud of their work and progress, and not be shy to share.
This donation would help my classroom become more exciting, engaging, and informative.
Students will become braver and more confident to show what they know (and what they don't know).
