My Students
Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun! This is exactly what today's students need! Please assist me in incorporating creativity in our classroom!
I am a fourth grade teacher working for a high poverty school district located in rural mid-Missouri.
Our small elementary school provides education to a little over 400 students (K-4).
My classroom consists of 21 bright and enthusiastic learners. My shining jewels enjoy working with partners and in groups. They love getting out of their seats and moving around. Lastly, they go crazy when they are given the opportunity to ditch their papers and pencils! (This is where you come in!)
My Project
So often I come across engaging activities that relate to what I am teaching in the classroom. However, I lack the necessary supplies to conduct them. Please help me deepen the level of my students' engagement through the use of projects, experiments, and group activities!
Our classroom is in need of basic craft supplies such as scissors, markers, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, buttons, and more. These craft supplies will be used throughout all subject areas. Examples of such activities include creating a colorful brochure of Missouri’s landmarks, designing an ecosystem, creating a dream house as a way to apply concepts of area and perimeter, and even creating a character sketch from a book. Activities such as these not only deepen student learning, but also make learning fun!
Student engagement deepens through the use of projects and group activities.
This deepened engagement allows students to better understand and remember the concepts being taught. The use of projects in the classroom will also encourage students to practice critical thinking and creativity skills. These skills will not only benefit students now, but they will also benefit students in their future careers. Please help my students achieve success both now and in their futures!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
