My students need pencil sharpeners that won't break, art activities that aren't old and boring, and a fresh welcome when they walk in.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is high energy learning with hands-on activities. We sing, dance and are engaged learners when we walk into Mrs. Spellmeyer's room.

My students have a lot of energy and crave new and innovative ways of learning.

They come from low income families that cannot afford common everyday items such as drawing books or mechanical pencils. Even with being low income, my students come ready to learn art every time they step into my room.

My Project

My students will get a kick out of the materials I have requested. To have pencil sharpeners that do not break on them or hurt their fingers would be wonderful. To have mechanical pencils for technical projects would be of great use to us. How-to-Draw books will help aid in my instruction to my students who are visual learners. Some of the books even encourage creative writing which will help support the core subjects. The icing on the cake is the beautiful carpet my students will get to walk on as soon as they enter my room. What a welcoming sight that would be for them to get ready for learning!

These donations will make a world of difference in my classroom by providing an inviting culture that promotes learning and creativity.

These instructional books are invaluable to me as a teacher and to my students who wish to learn independently. The sharpeners will help create smoother transitions in my classroom. Overall, these items will help me update my classroom to better serve my students.
