My students need a listening center, a portable CD player, a rhyming center, blends and digraphs teaching tubs, and a letter pocket chart.

My classroom is buzzing with the excitement of emerging readers. Due to lack of resources, I can not provide enough reading centers to adequately quench their thirst for knowledge. Please help me provide opportunities to expand my students knowledge through the joy of reading.
My students consist of the most wonderful, intelligent, and capable students in the City of Saint Louis.
However, they come from disadvantaged backgrounds where literacy and education is not the priority, survival is. Our staff demands maximum performance and sees our school as a road to excellence, the portal of the 21st century. We provide all students with a quality education that will enable them to be productive workers, citizens and contributors to our democratic and technical society. We do this in a broad learning environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration and the wise use of community and school resources.
My students will use the Listening Center and Portable Cd player, Rhyming Center, Letter Pocket Chart, and Blends and Digraphs Teaching Tubs to enhance their reading levels. They will be able to practice and master concepts by having these resources that will allow them to work independently and in small groups during literacy center time. The listening center and rhyming center will help build foundations of necessary reading skills. By the end of the school year, I would like for my students to have made significant gains in their reading abilities. I want my students to develop a love for reading while developing reading strategies.
Studies have suggested that many children who fail to read well in their early school years continue as poor readers in later grades.
Having these items to get the extra practice will allow my students to have the opportunity to master the concepts that they are learning. The quicker they can master a concept, the faster they will be able to move to higher levels, and make gains to become on level readers.
