My students need Chromebooks to complete research on science magic trick. They will use magnets and other items in a magic show. Wands and capes will be fun props.
Can creativity and science by combined? Yes, I believe so. I teach gifted students, and they don't often get to research and then share in a creative fashion. Starting with research and exploring ideas can spark the imagination and lead to new discoveries and a brighter future.
I have 77 gifted students in grades 2-6.
They come from a variety of back grounds in a rural setting. Many do not have opportunities to explore beyond that of our own community. My students, like gifted students everywhere, have vast imaginations and are curious about a wide range of topics. They have lots of questions and areas of interest. But with the limited resources at our school, in our community, and their homes, many have limited opportunities to explore.
My Project
What would happen if...? How can I...? Students will begin by investigating these questions and others by researching science activities and concepts using Chromebooks. They will explore a science magic trick and learn the science behind their "trick". Students will then practice and perform their "tricks" using magnets and other everyday materials. For the Science Magic
Trick Show, each student will use props such as a magician's cap, hat, and wand to creatively present their science magic tricks for an audience of their peers and parents. It's a great teaching and learning opportunity for all and done in a fun and creative way.
Gifted students have a greater need to learn, research, and express themselves in creative ways.
This project will give them the tools to do just that. When the minds of gifted students are allowed to explore, we are all SMARTER, TOGETHER from the sparks of their imaginations and curiosities. Great discoveries and innovations come from those who are curious and have the opportunities to explore and express themselves.
