My students need to create art using art concepts. They need a trip to The Canvas on Broadway.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Cobb's classroom raised $1,254
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students, along with the rest of the second grade, need to experience art in a traditional studio environment. Currently our art classes are taught in our classrooms, due to the fact that our building does not have adequate spacing for us to have an art classroom
Our students are creative, artistic and bright.
They are caring and thoughtful. These children are from a low income/ high poverty area. They rarely get to experience activities outside of either the school building or their homes. They would be thrilled to have this experience. They would get to create a masterpiece of their very own!
My Project
My students, along with the rest of second grade, will be able to create either an original portrait or landscape by using a paint brush with control, mixing colors, using color contrast, and learning how to use and clean painting supplies appropriately.
This project will allow students to experience an opportunity within their community that would not be possible for a large majority of them.
They will ride a bus to the studio. There they will be able to pick their own canvas, art supplies and paint colors At our building, our art teacher currently teaches from a cart, which means that our students only experience art in their normal classroom. These students will get to experience creating art pieces in a real studio environment.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
