My students need data binder materials binders, folders, sheet protectors, page dividers, and labels, rocket math folders, rocket math charts, and standard charts.
Every morning we start the day off with a chant. Together we all shout, "I am smart! I am very smart! The harder I work, the smarter I get!" Throughout the day, this chant sticks with my students. They are an extremely hard-working group of students who love to take charge of their own learning!
Hello everyone!
I am a fourth grade teacher working for a school district located in rural Mid-Missouri. Our small elementary school provides education to a little over 400 students (K-4). The poverty rate of the population we serve is higher than the national average, with around 65% of our students being eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch. My classroom consists of 21 bright and enthusiastic students. I have an extremely caring class that is not only conscious of their success but also the success of their classmates. As a result, my students greatly enjoy working with partners and in groups. This drive to succeed comes from the fact that I encourage my students to take charge over their own learning. Last year I started student data tracking, and my students absolutely loved constantly knowing where they stood academically. It proved to be an amazing self-motivator. This is where you come in!
My Project
These resources will aid my students in tracking their academic progress. Each student will create a data binder with folders, page dividers, and sheet protectors. They will use this data binder to store their most valuable projects, set goals, and chart progress in reading, math, language, writing, and spelling. Students will have constant access to their data binders. As a result, students will be able to see where their understanding lies in each standard. They will be able to see which standards they have mastered and which standards they still need to work on. When students know where they are at, they can set goals. These goals will motivate students to master all of their standards and become the best that they can be! Also included in the wish list are folders and a classroom chart for Rocket Math. Our Rocket Math program helps students become more fluent at math facts. Through this program, students set individual goals, practice math facts, and chart their progress.
I strongly believe in student data tracking!
Through student data tracking, students are taught how to take charge of their own learning.
They are taught responsibility, organization, and goal setting. Overall, data tracking encourages students to become self-motivators! These skills will not only help students to achieve academic success in fourth grade, but will also aid students in achieving their goals throughout the rest of their lives!!!
