Mrs. B. from MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a document camera to share lab results and summary ideas.

Students create Interactive Notebooks in order to build knowledge and an understanding of Biology. The interactive notebooks SHOW understanding of material. Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I will understand. ~Chinese Proverb
Our school is a public high school in the low income suburbia.
There are 1964 students enrolled in 2015, 88.60% are black, and 50.8% are on free/reduced lunch. Our students have many challenges, and to overcome them our students need educational support from their teachers to provide them better opportunities to succeed in life. Using technology in the classroom to promote language skills will provide students with the skill set to prepare for the End of Course Exams, and to ready them for college and technical careers in the Biology Field.
A document camera would be great for students to show their interactive notebooks to the class. Students currently show their notebook by walking around the room which is great, however, if the student or students could share their ideas on the Promethean board to the entire class at once that would be even better. Students will be able to collaborate better not only with the content but also to share lab results and data collection. They also help to share with their peers how they study. I believe a document camera would be able to give my students the edge they need to create a true collaborating environment of learners.
Donations will help my students build a more productive collaborative environment.
Students will also learn a new skill set which is presenting their ideas to the class in a less intimidating manner. Students are able to show their learning in their interactive notebooks and will be able to share learning with their peers. Being able to show their products in their notebook will also build confidence in the student and build vital communication skills.
