Remember how difficult it was as a young child to sit still in a standard school chair? What if children were able to move while still sitting? HOKKI stools prove that classroom furniture doesn't have to be traditional to be effective in helping young children learn.
My class consists of 24 eager-to-learn first graders who attend a Title-1 school in Missouri.
My students, including six English language learners, come from varying socioeconomic homes. Even though we qualify as a Title-1 school, we do not receive any funding.
My Project
Being able to move while sitting down helps many students who normally can't sit still or who have special needs stay seated and focus more on learning and completing their assignments. These six HOKKI stools will help calm students' wiggles while improving their posture and developing their trunk control. My students will primarily use these stools during small group instruction; guided reading, guided math, and guided writing times.
Providing children with safe and comfortable seating that benefits them physically and mentally will help create a positive and engaging learning environment.
What a difference these stools will make for students with attention/hyperactivity difficulties as well as active first grade students!
