My students need a Chromebook for utilizing Google Classroom, my preferred platform for researching, writing, and editing all types of fiction and nonfiction projects.
My students love to learn! They get so excited to analyze, debate, and relate fiction and nonfiction to their own lives and what they are learning in their other classes.
I love that we have a diverse group of students, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Jews, African-Americans, Asians, Caucasians, and children of mixed heritage all explore and learn together.
I bring our diverse backgrounds and experiences into our reading and writing which creates a vibrant experience for everyone.
Even though our school is in the suburbs of St. Louis, we are considered to be at the moderate poverty level due to the number of families who participate in the free and reduced-lunch program. We currently do not have enough technology, and I am constantly scrambling around, frantically, trying to find enough computers so that everyone in class can begin writing. I finally decided, "Enough whining! Do something about it!" which is why I'm trying to get Chromebooks in my classroom.
My Project
My plan is to utilize Google Classroom for all of my students' writing assignments, eliminating the need for paper. Chromebooks are inexpensive, easy to use, and start up quickly, saving class time. Students will be able to use the Chromebooks to create presentations for booktalks, write and submit assignments to Google Classroom, as well as get feedback on assignments immediately. With Chromebooks and Google Classroom, the students can effortlessly collaborate, videochat with other classrooms, and I can differentiate lessons for different individuals and groups.
Everyone knew that kid who lugged around thirteen notebooks and a binder as stuffed as a Thanksgiving turkey.
One-to-one computing means no more lost papers! It means no more kids scrabbling around after their binders fell, trying to find that one paper out of hundreds. One-to-one computing will not only be helpful to the environment, but will also provide the most current method for students to collaborate as well as work independently. Your donation will truly transform our classroom!
