My students need iPad minis with cases to not only help them with their education, but to provide much needed specific apps for my visually impaired child.
We all know that the latest educational apps are amazing, but many may not know that there are specific apps that are geared only towards visually impaired children. I have a student who uses specific vision apps once a week with his vision specialist but will only improve with daily use.
I have an amazing group of kindergarten students who LOVE technology but are not provided with enough opportunities to use it.
We have a computer lab which we are allowed to use 2 times a week but this is not enough time for our "techie generation." Our students have grown up with iPhones and iPads from a young age yet our school does not have the funds to provide them for the students' use.
I have one student that is visually impaired. He is the sweetest, kindest little guy I know. He has a vision specialist come to the school to work with him one time per week. She uses specific apps on her iPad to help him. I would love for his paraprofessional and myself to be able to lead him through these lessons daily.
My Project
My students need iPad minis with cases. The most important use will be for my visually impaired student. We all know that learning a new skill can not be done effectively with one thirty minute session a week. Having the same apps that the vision specialist has will allow us to work with him on a daily basis.
But all the students will gain confidence in their reading, writing and math skills through educational apps.
Using the iPads will not only enhance my teaching, it will also help enhance their independent learning skills.
They will be working individually on different lessons that I will have ready for them. This will also allow me some new and exciting ways to work with small groups.
