My students need great read out loud books, such as The Way I Act, Shortcut, and The Best Story, to help them learn about reading, writing, and social development.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.” Dr. Seuss
My students are excited 5 and 6 year old boys and girls.
They love coming to school to learn and especially love hearing me read books! If I want my students' attention, all I have to do is open a book to read to them, and they are hooked! We spend our day working on learning to read, learning to write, and learning how to be productive students in our school setting, which are all sometimes difficult things for my students to do.
My Project
I would love to add more read out loud books to my classroom that will help my students develop their reading, writing, and social skills like Rocket Writes A Story, It's Hard To Be A Verb, and Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies. These books purchased through this DonorsChoose.org project will be used in my classroom throughout the year. I will read these books to my students to help develop their reading, writing, and social skills. After reading each book, students will use their learning from the books and apply it to what we are doing in the classroom.
I will use the books to develop my students' reading, writing, and social skills to create lifelong learners who are productive members in society.
I will read the book, How Rocket Learned to Read, to my students to help develop their love of reading. The Best Story will be read to help my students find their voice in their writing. And finally, I will read the story Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns We Can All Get Along to help my students focus on developing their social skills.
