Look around you, what do you see has changed since you were in school? For me, I see the change in technology. No longer do we have huge floppy discs. Newsflash! Technology is not going to disappear. It is going to grow. As a teacher and parent I want to prepare my students and kids for it.
My students are wonderful first graders who are eager to learn.
Our school is small and we try to provide the best we can for our students but with budget cuts we are not able to provide technology to benefit students in the lower elementary. We are blessed with a computer lab but since the older grades will be using computers to test my students have very limited access to the technology. My goal is to help students embrace technology and see the many tools it has to offer.
My Project
My students would be able to use the tablets to work on reading aloud and fluency, they have wonderful apps to record them as they read and will see what they need to work on. This technology will also be used in centers for students to practice math, phonics, and reading concepts. I would be able to purchase and download books to the tablets. Books are usually cheaper so I could easily expand my library without having to spend as much money.I am excited for all of the possibilities these tablets can bring to my classroom.
This project will make a huge difference to my students.
They will have access to books they may never get the chance to read, they will get hands on experience with technology and they will be able to learn ways technology can benefit them. By donating, you are giving an amazing group of students the opportunity to grow with technology.
