This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have NEVER touched clay. I believe that they deserve every experience possible to create a positive school experience. They will be creating memories for them to keep for a lifetime.
My students are pre-school to 6th grade students of a diverse community.
They are very eager to learn. I have students who would spend every moment of their school experience in art class if they could. They love new experiences and projects that challenge their skills. Most of the classes have about 25 students in them.
My Project
My students need a kiln and a venting system to create clay projects. The main use for the materials is for firing clay. I have a room to house the materials, but it would be really nice to ensure the room is properly ventilated so the school does not sustain any damage. I will be funding extra materials, but this is a major jump start to our whole clay experience.
This project is so important to the our students and future students to come because it holds NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND policies true.
According to grade level expectation rules, students should have experience with clay. I feel that we are doing these kids a disservice by not offering them every opportunity that other schools have. I would love to say that my students got a chance to have a fulfilling art experience. Help me offer these students every learning opportunity.
