My Students
Do you remember what Science class was like when you were in school? Textbooks, answer questions on a worksheet, and then taking a test? I want my students to remember my Science class as so much more! Hands-on learning, computers, projects, FUN. Not boring books and long lectures.
My school is located in a low-income town where students come to school to feel safe, eat two hot meals a day, socialize with their friends, and learn throughout their day.
Most classrooms only have one computer, and the computer is for the teacher to use. We do have computer carts available for students to use, but most of the time those are unavailable. We are slowly working on getting more technology into our school.
My Project
My 5th graders are actively engaged in learning daily. I try to engage the students to where they are self-learners and motivated to learn because they're interested and excited. The iPads I am requesting would be used for multiple activities. I plan to use them for stations where students will learn through presentations, pictures, or videos. Students will also be able to use the tablets for review or enrichment during tutoring or after finishing class work.
Technology is becoming the key component in children's lives.
Tablets can be beneficial to all types of learners--kinesthetic, visual, and independent. By adding tablets to the classroom, students will be able to access information they need immediately, they will be able to review information for a test, review any information they're struggling with, and gain confidence in themselves.
