My Students
My classroom is an energetic and collaborative place. I like my students to feel comfortable and have options for where they can do their work.
I teach fifth grade and my students are active 10 and 11 year-olds.
I have a number of students who need to stay mobile in order to stay focused. I am not a stay-in-your-seat-and-read kind of learner myself and I do not expect that of my students either.
My Project
Having some standing desks in the room will give students another option of where to do their work. Standing desks are also great for cooperative projects because it is much easier for a group of 4-5 to stand around a counter-height desk than hunched over a traditional desk.
These desks will be great spots for groups to meet for projects and science experiments.
I also plan to use these desks as an option for restless students to have a place they can go where they can continue learning without disrupting the rest of the class.
