My students need team sport equipment for many different activities. All variations of the equipment are needed for all age groups and will be utilized daily.
One of my favorite quotes is by Michael Jordan: "I have failed over, and over, and over again in my life, but that is why I succeed." this quote is something I say in my classroom, because all i require is effort from my students. Just asking them to please try!
My classroom is 2nd through 5th grade Physical Education, and our facilities are newer, and have plenty of room to do many different activities in gymnasium.
We have a larger number of students who are lower income, but our school is a great school who has a staff that is very caring and willing to help these kids in any way possible. Our school hold 4 classes per grade, and I only get to see my students once a week, so I incorporate as much as I can each day I get to see my students.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will be used in a assortment of team activities. The students need to learn multiple different activities that involve working with a teammate, or peers, and critically thinking though the game or situation, together. All students will learn the importance of a healthy body while in my class, but I think it is important to introduce as many different activities, games, and sports to them as possible, especially at a young age. These materials will allow my students to see, learn, and participate in something they may succeed at, or even a way to just have fun and move. Our new "cross fit" materials and ways of working out are very new, but the items I am requesting are very outdated, minimal, or non-existent.
Many of my students are not able to learn life skills through team sports, so my plan is to create ways for my students to learn how to work together and build character through sportsmanship and competition.
there are a lot of students who never get the opportunity to do leagues throughout the year. This may be the only time they are introduced to an activity that will rely on their peers for support, or even have an opportunity to be in a leadership position.
