We live in a small Missouri town. Most of my students come from low-income homes. Many of my students must help their parents on the farm. We currently have 195 students enrolled in our high school, 69% of them are on the free or reduced price lunch program.
It is embarrassing when you do not have the basic supplies needed to do your work.
If I had supplies readily available, then there would be no need for that embarrassment. Students could just pick up what they need and begin working. That would make learning much easier.
My Project
We will be making mobiles to hang around our classroom. We will use construction paper, wooden dowels, sharpies, and colored pencils to make our mobiles. We will show the classifications of triangles and the different ways to prove that triangles are congruent with the mobiles.
Using what we have learned in a new and different way will help my students to retain their knowledge.
This will help them bring the information back to mind when they need it later in the year.
More than half of students from low‑income households
