My students need Chromebooks to access: Google classroom, Google forms,Google drive, and ebooks to complete classroom assignments in ways that are real world applicable.
Everyday we tell our students; They are somebody, they were somebody when they came, and will be a better somebody when they leave. They are powerful and strong, and deserve the wonderful education they get here. They have things to do, people to impress, and places to go; it is time to get started!
My students are amazing young men and women who daily impress me with their kindness, talent, and way of looking at things from every angle.
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the sky is the limit for these kids... they just need the tools accessible to one day get there. Our school, while a great place to learn and grow, does not have the funds necessary to give the students all that they deserve. I am looking for the opportunity to give them these tools so I can help them reach their full potential one day as they compete in a technological driven society.
My Project
With the use of the Chromebooks, I envision a classroom with 100% engagement as students are able to look up unknown words as the read and google topics they want to learn more about. Using google drive, students will collaborate on assignments and edit each others writing. We will create a learning environment where students feel free to explore new ideas and unknown skills using the technology they are comfortable with.
This year in our class, we have a child who is a paraplegic. She uses different devices to help her communicate and complete her work that the other students do not have access to; I envision with the use of the Chromebooks, a classroom where the students are able to communicate and complete their work in teams allows my student to participate and feel a sense of ownership in group projects, since she will be working in the same medium as the others.
The world is changing and so must the way we teach.
By incorporating technology into our lessons, we are allowing our students to become independent and responsible for their own learning as they discover the answers on their own, set goals for themselves, and dig deeper into concepts through online research and collaboration. Technology is not the only way to teach, but it is a great tool to incorporate for engagement, real world learning and to set students up for success for the future.
