We've got the skills to read, now all we need are the books.
I work with struggling kindergarten, first, and second grade readers in a rural Missouri school.
My students are kind, hardworking, and intelligent; however, they struggle with reading. I am proud to say that with a lot of hard work and the right materials, these students can make a huge leap toward becoming great readers.
My Project
I have noticed that my kindergarten students do a great job learning their letters and sounds; but when it comes to reading books, our progress comes to a halt. I have a hard time introducing students to books because I have very few books that are simple enough for beginning readers. I need a set of books to introduce students to reading. These books will slowly introduce sight words and then repeat the sight words so the students can easily recognize the words and begin to read fluently. I am certain that if I provide my students opportunities to be successful, they will build the confidence needed to be great readers.
Being able to read, and read well, is vitally important to my students; not only at school, but in life.
I believe the books donated to my classroom can make learning to read easier and more enjoyable. Please help these kindergarten students receive the books they need to be successful readers. Your donation truly can make a lasting difference in their lives.
