Every day, I arrive at school knowing there will be an adventure.
I would describe my students as "eager to make a better life for themselves". Houston Missouri is a small town and a lot of the students in it are very low income. Because of the area, students are eager to learn the skills they need to improve, for themselves and their family. The students in Houston Missouri, are hard working and energetic. My student's interests are very diverse, and quite often they struggle to figure out what path will lead them to greater success. Our students, are very visual and respond well to projects where they can see a functioning result of their hard work.
My Project
My students will use the printer toner to print graphs, reports, and projects. In several of my classes students are given projects to do that help shape them into Administrative assistants (graphs, presentations, brochures, fliers etc), Web designers (storyboards, reports, graphs, P&L statements) and Entrepreneurs (marketing material, price tags, signs, flyer's etc).
If granted the toner my students will be able to create the documents they need to be successful.
When my students make a document and aren't able to see it in its finished form (in print) it is discouraging to them. With this toner my students will be able to understand color limitations via computer to print. My students will also be able to share their projects with friends and compare their works. I will also be able to allow students to critique each others work (in rough draft form).
