Inspiring Students To Read With Audiobooks
Funded Apr 12, 2011Thank you so much for your help and support in obtaining audiobooks for our elementary school library. Audiobooks will do so much to help our students become better readers and discover the joy of books. Students will now have the opportunity to listen to books that may be beyond their reading levels and to increase their language and vocabulary--and since I have print versions in the library, students will be able to read along. Due to school budget cuts, we currently receive NO funding for library materials. There is no way we would have been able to begin an audio book collection without Donors Choose and your generous donation.
Thanks again for your support of literacy and our youth.”

Fill Our Library With New Books!
Funded Feb 23, 2011Thank you so much for allowing us to purchase new books for our elementary school library. Because funding for materials has been totally cut, we would not have been able to get these new books without your help.
This project included books picture books for younger students. The boys especially were excited about the Fly Guy books. It's such a great series to get them excited about reading. And I can not keep Pinkalicious and Purpliciious on the shelf, it's so popular. I read The Pout-Pout Fish to the kindergarten and first grade classes, and it was such a hit--they still repeat parts of the story when they see me.
The older students are just as excited. Biographies about Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift have lists of kids waiting to check them out and the books about the Dallas Cowboys have been long awaited. Our reluctant readers are excited about the graphic novels and the students liking novels have been passing around Schooled, Uglies, and books by Mary Hershey. Believe me, none of the new books have been sitting on the shelf. They go out as fast as they come in.
Thank you so much for providing these exciting new books for our students!”

Ms. Olson
