LEGOS - Fostering Creativity & Creation
Funded Feb 14, 2018Thank you so much for contributing financially to my classroom for our LEGOS project. The students whispered excitedly when they saw the LEGOS kits on the back shelf. Within my family group, a group of thirteen students from kindergarten through fifth grade, the LEGOS were a particular highlight. Both boys and girls were enthusiastic to build from their imagination or build from the included instructions. I will remember when I asked my family group on a Friday if they wanted to watch a movie or play with LEGOS before they left for their regular classes. They answered that they wanted to play with the LEGOS.
The LEGOS enrich these students' education. Thank you for making my classroom more enjoyable and creative for these students.”

Funded Nov 5, 2017Thank you so much for contributing your resources to my classroom project "How Do We Organize? Folders, Guys!". The folders have allowed my students to create places for their unit assessments, homework, unit projects, Georgia Milestones study guides, and data analysis. When the students first saw the binders and dividers on the shelf, they asked daily when they would be able to use them. This organization would not be possible without your generous support. Being neat and organized keeps our classroom growing and reflecting as we learn together.
The project included hand-sanitizer and Welch's Fruit Snacks. The hand-sanitizer is welcome as we ward off nefarious disease in our third grade classroom. The students were enthusiastic about Welch's fruit snacks as a reward for hard work. They are a treat!
Currently, we are working toward the Georgia Milestones. The fruit snacks keep the students rewarded for hard work and the binders keep us organized as we strive toward our goal. Thanks again for your thoughtful contribution.”

Kindergarten Day: Reading Children's Books In Spanish Class
Funded Nov 9, 2014I feel incredibly supported & joyful to partner with you so that high school students receive a higher quality education. The financial gifts enable us to read a variety of literature from children's books to appropriate-level chapter books.
My students & I use the Spanish children's books to widen students' vocabulary. Students ask what words mean & recognize cognates without my prompting. To deviate from normal class structure, students enjoy reading a Spanish children's book. We want to work persistently toward thinking in Spanish. Reading Spanish children's books breaks down complicated sentences. With simpler sentences, students are more likely to think in the target language, and then they can acquire the language more easily.
The students & I appreciate the miniature library of children's books. Students inquired about where I received the resources & why I requested Spanish children's books. I shared about your wonderful generosity & how the stories will enable us to receive an internationally benchmarked Spanish education. By the end of the year, my students will take the Regents Exam, and I expect my students to excel on the exam. Acquiring a wide vocabulary through fun children's books will help.
Thanks again for partnering with me to ensure our classroom receives a higher quality Spanish language education.”

Global Citizens Need Preparation Before Travel
Funded Dec 27, 2013I feel incredibly supported & joyful to work with you to provide high school students with a higher quality education. The financial assistance enabled students to create flashcards for vocabulary so that we may retain Spanish vocabulary more easily.
My students & I use the vocabulary flashcards regularly as we prepare for our final end-of-the-year exam. As we learn new words during Spanish language instruction, students copy down the unknown vocabulary onto the index card, and draw a corresponding picture on the back. Within the Spanish classroom, quizzing ourselves with flashcards that lack English enables us to think in Spanish more consistently. We want to work persistently toward thinking in Spanish, communicating clearly & more importantly, identifying as global citizens.
My students definitely appreciate the resource & gave prolific thanks for the resources. Students regularly inquired about where I received the resources & why I wanted students to make flashcards. Because I believe in open communication with students, we dialogued about your wonderful generosity & how the flashcards will enable us to receive an internationally benchmarked Spanish education. By the end of the year, my students will take the New York Regents Exam because I hold my students to expectations comparable to affluent high schools.
Thanks again for partnering with me to ensure our high school classroom receives a higher quality Spanish language education.”
