Math Is SO Money!
Funded Jul 22, 2014Thank you so much for your generous donations that made it possible for this project to come to life in our classroom. The students LOVE all of the resources and constantly ask to use them or choose to use them in their free time. They LOVE the large magnetic money as well as the discovery can of money practice activities.
We use resources we received from this project in many different ways. The magnetic money as well as money stamps are used as teaching tools by me as well as small group manipulatives. We use the resources as a whole class as well as in small group/station activities. While not limited to just the practice of money, my students' current favorite resource from this project is the whiteboards we received. With the help of this project, we were able to acquire a complete class set. We use the whiteboards in math daily right now as an engaging way to practice and an effective way for me to differentiate and informally assess math instruction.
This project has accomplished exactly what I hoped it would. Students are interacting with money in real, self-motivated ways in our world that has become increasingly digital with an economy that is supported by debit/credit cards. My students are much more comfortable with money than in years past and they actively seek out opportunities to build their money skills. I have seen greater mastery of coin values as compared to years past. My students are working hard to practice combining different coin amounts to determine a total.
Thank you again for helping me to make math so fun for my students this year while we work hard to master a growing body of math standards.”

TIME for Media Literacy
Funded Sep 11, 2012Thank you so much for donating to my project. My students and I have thoroughly enjoyed receiving weekly issues of Time for Kids Magazine. The graphic organizers we have used from First Graphic Organizers have helped us to successfully tackle both fiction and nonfiction texts with comprehension.
The addition of these resources has enriched our classroom immeasurably. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to expose my students to different genres beyond fiction. This great success could not have been achieved without your support. With the help of these resources, my students have truly become skilled consumers of knowledge. From this beginning, I know that they will go on to be capable researchers and informed citizens of the world.
Thank you for giving my students the privilege to enjoy such a profound learning experience.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wunderl
