The Magic of Book Clubs
Funded Dec 24, 2021Thank you for bringing these books into my classroom! They are so engaging that my students anxiously await the next book club meeting!
The students are making connections between the texts and are noticing that each book has a message. They love trying to figure out what each message is and how it applies to their lives. They are also enjoying the fact that different perspectives are represented in the books and they are learning a lot from them. They enjoy seeing how relationships evolve over the course of the book and recognize how the characters are impacted by one another.
These books have opened my students to new ideas, new people, and new topics of discussion. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

Building Connections Between The Past, Present, and Future
Funded Nov 27, 2021Thank you so much for your support and belief in the vision I have for my classroom and students! I am so incredibly thrilled and excited to incorporate the Scholastic News Magazines within my lessons.
My students will now have access to engaging, current topics of interest! They love reading a variety of articles and thinking deeply about the content, as well as choosing a side based on a controversial question. The articles allow students to reflect upon the information presented and use critical thinking to determine the validity of the claims.
Your kindness and generosity means the world to us. Thank you!!”

Funded Sep 3, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students absolutely love having access to all these different places through the virtual field trips! They enjoy looking through the sites, resources, and learning about events that are happening all over the world! They even pick their favorite places, carefully read through the texts using close reading strategies, and write about them!
We are going to continue to use the virtual field trips and passages for close reading as we move into our non-fiction units by identifying key vocabulary, text features, text structures, and using the main idea and key details to summarize. The students are excited to move into the unit and use what they're learning for their informative writing pieces!
My students and I truly appreciate all that you have done to help make this project come to life!”

Funded Jun 2, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation of classroom supplies!
The students use their black folders every day to hold their reading homework. They are holding up well and are helping to keep the students organized!
The students use the supply center daily when they need pencils, erasers, colored pencils, and markers. They are taking care of the supplies by putting them back into the supply center and picking up materials off the floor.
It's a nice feeling when a student asks for an eraser, I can go into the closet and get one for him without hesitation. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Funded Sep 17, 2018You have no idea what joy you've brought to my classroom with simple items like pencils, erasers, colored paper, white paper, and post-it notes! The supply center is stocked with these items and my students freely go there for supplies whenever they need them. They don't need to worry about finding a pencil or eraser because they are there in the bin.
I'm able to make copies for their book club folders and they can use the post-it notes to keep track of their thinking in the book. It helps them discuss the books more efficiently!
We're also able to create service projects! We made cards for soldiers in an alumnus' unit using the colored paper, pencils, and erasers.
Thank you again for your very generous donations to my classroom! It is appreciated in so many ways!”

Bringing The Classroom To Life With Art
Funded Aug 11, 2018Thank you once again for all your generous donations! My students are having a blast using the art supplies for the classroom. Since pencils are always a hot commodity in the room, they are getting the most use along with the various erasers. I have them in buckets in the front of the room so all the students have access to the frequently used supplies.
The oil pastels were used to make self portraits. These self-portraits are labeled with the child's name and are hung in the back of the room. It's always so exciting when the students see them for the first time!
These art supplies have brought such joy into my room! The students love expressing themselves and using their imaginations to showcase their learning.”
