Our K-5th graders are enthusiastic about learning and love being in school. 70% of our students are classified as English Learners. Another 20% started out speaking another language, but are now classified as English proficient. Students learning in a second language thrive on hands-on learning experiences with visual aids and constant feedback. This is exactly the support that technology can provide. The families of our students care deeply about education and want to support their children, yet they often lack the means to do it. 87% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Lack of education, language barriers, and economic hardships all hinder these parents from providing the academic support they wish to give to their kids. Our school is dedicated to giving our students the basic skills they need in terms of reading, writing, and math. However, technology tends not to be priority, even though it could support these basic skills and build computer literacy.
