Instilling Confidence in the Class of 2028 is so Great!
Funded May 7, 2015I cannot thank you enough for providing the supplies my students needed to get started for a wonderful foundational school experience! Thanks to you, my students have had plenty of journals, folders for reading, writing and organizing their work. Every single child in my classroom had the supplies they needed, and it's all thanks to you! We use our folders and notebooks every day. Our 3 ring binders are used as each student compiles their own individual data to showcase their learning throughout the year. My students will use these binders throughout the year and the data compiled in them will follow them and further inform their first grade teacher of where they are. Your contribution will literally follow these students throughout this year AND next! I cannot fully express my gratitude. Thank you, thank you!!”

Help Us Bring Spring to Life!
Funded Feb 16, 2015We have absolutely loved hatching our own ducklings in our kindergarten classroom. This would not have been possible without the generosity of you and of donors choose. The excitement and love of learning I have seen in my students throughout this unit has been priceless. Each day upon arriving at school, the students have checked on the eggs before unpacking and beginning our day. This morning, we had the pleasure of being completely surprised by two ducks that hatched overnight. Today, we have watched two more ducks hatch, with more to come! We have named our Wednesday, Surprise, Artie and Sleepy. It is amazing to see 5 and 6 year old students participate in topics that are exciting and authentic to them.
Through this unit, my students have answered their own questions through authentic experiences (provided by you) and through their own research. Questions like: "What is an incubator?", "What is an Oviparous animal?", "Can we see inside our eggs?", and "What do ducklings need to survive?" During this experience, I have seen my students writing, communication, and science skills soar. They have become independent little scientists who are learning all about all it takes to care for ducklings.
Absolutely none of our experience would have been possible without you. My students and I are so appreciative for the tools you've provided for us.”

Kindergarteners are the Apple of My "i"!
Funded Feb 18, 2015I can't adequately express the excitement, joy and wonder that our Apple TV and HDMI cable has brought to our classroom. We have been able to teach each other, share our research, learn all about cool new apps (our favorite is the green screen!) and so much more thanks to your generous donation. Every day I hear the question, "Can we PLEASE use the Apple TV to share our learning today?"
My students and I have used the Apple TV and HDMI cable in many different ways. As the teacher, I have used it to model apps that the students use in reading and math workstations. I have been able to teach so much more effectively by modeling the use of the app one or two times, instead of 21 times for each individual student. The students have used the Apple TV to display and present their final projects. One of our projects was creating and telling a fictional weather fable through the app, Puppet Pals, during our weather PBL. We were able to share our stories with each other and students LOVED seeing their peers' stories. Also during our weather PBL, students wrote and recorded their own weather forecasts using a green screen app. This was by far their favorite project we have done so far! It was so awesome watching them share their weather 'predictions' using the Apple TV to mirror the iPad.
As our school moves to a 1:1 student to technology ratio, my students will continue to use the Apple TV and it will continue to be an integral part of our daily life in our classroom. Again, thank you so much for your generosity to my precious students!”

Ms. Fortner
