Digital Display For A Digital World
Funded Mar 12, 2012This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generosity in helping to purchase digital picture frames to display my students' computer art. I have filled both memory cards with all the artwork the students have made this year. One sits on the counter in the office, where all of our school visitors will see it. The second is displayed in the window next to the door to my classroom.
When I first put them up, they sparked much excitement from the students, especially the one outside the door. I can hear teachers talk about it in the hallway as well. The students just love seeing the slide shows of their work on the screen.”

Projecting the World of Art
Funded May 17, 2011Wow, I can't even begin to tell you how much your gift has impacted my classroom! Over the summer my job position was changed from full time art teacher to Computers/Visual Art. I literally use the projector everyday with my computer curriculum. I have no idea what I would do without it. It is beautiful and reliable, unlike the projectors the school has. Best of all, I don't have to check something out and hope I get it every time.
As you can see from the pictures, I still find ways to incorporate creative projects into my computer curriculum. Most of the pictures are showing me teaching younger students the Paint Program. We are building eye-hand coordination and mouse skills while creating pictures.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Learning about Art through Stories
Funded Feb 1, 2011When the books, DVDs, and other supplies arrived it was like Christmas. The week after the DVDs arrived I showed several of them to many of my classes. The students enjoyed the age appropriate humor and still remembered the important facts about the great artist. I used the Andy Warhol DVD to introduce the older students to Pop Art before we made our own Pop Art prints. Two of the books have become favorites with all grade levels, the drawing books. When students get stuck on how to draw an animal, I pull out these two books to help them. They are so popular, I'm making copies and having them laminated so that more students can benefit. One third grade class in particular always asks to read the special new books if they finish early. A few students have even borrowed books since they don't get library time at school. I look forward to planning my curriculum for next year around these new books.
Thank you again for supporting my classroom and the arts.”
