  • Get A Move On!!

    Funded Sep 3, 2010

Thank you so much for your generosity and support for my students as I try to help them "Get a Move On!" With the economy as it is, everyone's budgets are tight and that includes the school systems! Without the support of people like you, my students would not have such awesome equipment motivating them to get some exercise.

My students absolutely LOVE the clown bean-bag toss game and they are running more to chase us with our animal tails so that they can squeeze them and hear the sounds. Their favorite, however, is the ball tunnel. They are using those muscles, coordinating both sides of their body and developing sensory awareness as they crawl through - but all they know is that they are having fun!

I want to thank you for helping me get them moving and encouraging them to get a little more exercise and providing them ways to have fun while they do so! Thanks so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mays

There is no way I can truly express how thankful I am for your generosity. With the economy as it is, everyone's budgets are tight and that includes the school systems! Without your support, my students would still be sharing one iPod touch among the 10 of them! The students have responded so successfully to the iPod, learning and demonstrating skills that they would not do before. They are engaged in learning in a way I have not seen previously and their progress is amazing.

For students with autism, who have extreme communication difficulties, to be communicating with me and engaging in educational activities the way that they are with the iPod touches is incredible and my appreciation is difficult to put into words. Thank you seems so inadequate, but those are the words that I have - so THANK YOU!! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mays

The students in my class attend a public elementary school in a small town in Georgia. They all have moderate to severe autism and intellectual disabilities, and some have seizure disorders and other physical/physiological needs as well. They all attend adapted PE once a week but I would love to have the materials to work on gross motor skills like crawling, throwing, kicking, running in class the other four days a week! My students typically aren't motivated by the same things as typical kids and therefore don't get as much active play and exercise as they need. I have to be creative in developing activities that will motivate them to GET A MOVE ON!
