  • A Cold, Glowing Classroom

    Funded Aug 24, 2022

Imagine studying for an exam in the dark. That's what your generous contribution allowed my students to do. Using black lights and fluorescent materials, my students were able to. Somehow math didn't seem dull, and science didn't seem so difficult when working under these conditions.

The ice machine was a huge hit - not just for the students but for the faculty and staff as well. We use ice in so many of our science experiments - and I no longer need to hassle with bags of ice from the store. When not using the machine to make ice for class, it can be enjoyed to cool off a drink.

Your kindness will not be forgotten.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Foote

  • Start the Year Off Right!

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations. It was great to have the materials we needed to start the year off right.

My students were eager to use the sand timers and keep things on the right track. They helped the classes run smoothly. I appreciate them.

The thumb drive gave me a hard backup for projects and assignments. While everything we do has a cloud-based backup, I'm still a bit paranoid and like to have something I can hold in my hand. This allowed me to have that comfort and control.

The Moth stories have been a mainstay in my classes for years. Although we were unable to obtain the original book we requested, I think the book we did get was much better than the one we did get.

Thank you for your overwhelming kindness.”

  • This Is What We Need

    Funded Mar 13, 2022

Thank you for your generosity. The things you donated money for may not seem like big or important items, but I can assure you that they are both big and important to us. Kleenex is a critical component to keeping us healthy. Having pencils and erasers available are also critical.

We are so happy to have new, up-to-date reading material for when we finish early. As great as it is, you can only read the book "Wonder" so many times. This allows us to have a wide variety of high-quality, interesting books, including books about people of color.

Thank you. We will not forget your goodness.”

    Mrs. Foote

  • Keep It Clean, Keep Us Healthy

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so very much for the vacuum, tissues, and towels.

We ended up getting reusable towels, which are much better than the paper towels we originally planned to order. These towels have been washed and reused at least half a dozen times already. If we had been able to get paper towels, there is no doubt they would have been used and gone.

The tissues have been so helpful. Between COVID, flu season, and seasonal allergies, many of the students at suffering. It is nice to be able to hand them a tissue instead of a hard, uncomfortable piece of paper.

Finally, the vacuum is wonderful. Our classroom is clean and free of dust bunnies and lint. All of those little things you see in the sunlight flying around, we capture and though away. We want to stay healthy and this helps tremendously.

Thank you for your generous donation.”

  • Math Needs To Be Versatile

    Funded Jul 5, 2021

I love Versatiles. They are the unsung hero in my classroom. But my Versatiles are worn out, missing pieces, and, frankly, were unusable. Thank you for your contributions that allowed me to get a new set.

We started school a few weeks ago and my students, as expected, were very anxious and afraid. They have not had much success in math in the past, and they expected that trend to continue. One of my goals is that every child will leave my class having been successful every day. With your donation, I was able to get Versatiles to do activities with them. I purposely chose Versatile activities so that my kids would have success every day.

Thanks for helping to fund my project so that I have the tools to achieve my goals.”

  • Math Interventionist Needs Supplies

    Funded May 28, 2021

Having these supplies at the start of a new school year was fantastic. It is so amazing to be able to say to my student "Go take a pencil from the bin," or "Yes, you can keep that eraser." It's not the big things that make a difference. It's the little things. Thanks for helping me provide them to my students.

  • Help Me Fill My Shelves With Great Reading

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

There is nothing quite like a batch of new books to get kids excited - and me too! Thank you so much for supporting my project and helping me to fill my shelf. It's been great to be able to offer my students so new choices when it comes a book.

I am especially grateful for this selection of books because it allows my students to have a glimpse into a culture or lifestyle different than their own. These books allow them to go to a different world, to hang out with different kids.

And it's all because of you. Thanks so very much!”

  • Sweet Treats for COVID Distance Learning Students

    Funded Jan 22, 2021

It's been challenging to establish a relationship with my students this year. They look like a small box on my computer screen and I am the same to them.

I find that it is important to make a personal connection with my students. First, I call them on the phone. Some students (and I have over 275 students) enjoy talking to me on the phone, but others find it awkward and uncomfortable. Then I write my students. I send all my students postcards. I also send them a birthday card with a small treat. For those students who do not have birthdays during the school year, I celebrate their half birthday.

I choose about six students weekly and call their parents to make sure they are home. Then I drive by their houses to drop off some goodies. That always helps to break down the barriers and to build that relationship.

Celebrating their successes and getting to know them better would not be possible without you generosity and goodness. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Foote

  • We Can Learn STEM Anywhere!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

This gift was the best gift ever. It's been a challenging year. Very challenging. But with your generous donation, my students were able to have wonderful, hands-on experiences.

My students were able to pick up a science kit and work on science enrichment activities at home with their families. They played with celts to determine why it would only spin counter-clockwise. They tried to build their own wind gyroscopes after seeing the ones made professionally. My students made their own spill-nots with other materials and determined what materials worked well and which did not.

Not only did they learn an incredible amount of science, they learned to be create engineers. And it is all thanks to you. I couldn't have done this project without you.”

  • Gazing into the Night

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

I call it "The Traveling Telescope."

My classes are 100% remote, due to parent choice and my personal health situation. There is a lot of great, once-in-a-lifetime stuff happening in the skies these days. Who gets to use the telescope to view these events? The student who tells us about it. Everyone gets a chance. Remember being the kid who got to bring the hamster home over Thanksgiving? That's what this is like. If you want to use the telescope, tell us why. If we agree it's a good reason, you can have custody of the telescope. If more than one person wants it at the same time, we do a random drawing. Never has science been more popular - or alive - in a classroom.

This wasn't what I planned when I asked for a telescope. It's above and beyond my wildest dreams. And it is due to your kindness and generosity. Thank you for making this possible.”
