Getting Back to Basics
Funded Oct 24, 2019I cannot begin to express my thanks and gratitude to you. My students have loved the mid-year refresh of the most used items in our classroom. We love the new pencils, fresh glue sticks, shiny crayons and scissors. We have been able to work and create awesome looking projects and reflections with the beautiful Astrobrights paper.
With new supplies comes renewed responsibility. Students have taken ownership of our new materials and are careful to make sure they are handled appropriately. They make it clear to their classmates that these supplies were donated by generous people and therefore are special.
Thank you once again for breathing life in to our classroom.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Farhat

Funded May 9, 2019We have been so excited to receive our new popcorn machine. It has been a very welcomed addition to our building this school year. Our students were very excited to see a brand new machine and were even more excited to know that kind people like you, were the reason why we have this new piece of equipment.
All of students, regardless of what grade they are in, have benefitted from the delicious popcorn our new machine is popping out. Students know that when the aroma of popcorn wafting in the halls, they are in for a delicious, healthy treat.
Once again, thank you very much for bringing a little bit of happiness in to our school.”

Funded Mar 9, 2016This has been one of my most favorite projects that I have ever written through DonorsChoose.org! My students were very excited when our boxes were delivered to our classroom. Many of them have siblings in middle school who have joined Robotics Club. Since then, my 4th & 5th graders have shown an excitement about our own robotics adventures.
The Dash & Dot sets that have been donated to our classroom have really started to produce 21st Century Learners. My students have meshed together through the use of these robots to collaborate and problem solve.
I am so excited to see what the future holds for our new friends Dash & Dot!”

Funded Apr 21, 2017My students were very excited the minute they saw our boxes delivered. They had been waiting for this activity and when I told them wonderful donors had donated the materials to our classroom, they were even more thrilled.
The funding of this project came at the perfect time since we had just discussed the digestive system. There was some great discussion about what owl pellets were and how owls digested their food. The large sized posters that came with this kit were a great visual to my newcomer students.
I have never seen my students so engaged! There were 'oohs' and 'aahhs' as the owl pellets were opened; they were amazed at how small some of the bones were! My students were great scientists and detectives as they used magnifying glasses and microscopes to examine the bones they found in the owl pellets.
Thank you for providing my students with resources that helped to create such an engaging lesson!”

Do You Hear What I Hear?
Funded Aug 21, 2016I want to begin by thanking you for your kind donation to our classroom. The earbuds that were donated from this project have truly been a gift. We are very fortunate to have a variety of online resources used by the students in my classroom. Unfortunately, with 27 students, that can lead to a very noisy class.
Through the use of the earbuds, my students have been able to utilize online learning tools without disrupting the other students in our classroom. We are able to have successful Daily 5 rotation and Math Workshop rounds due to everyone being on task.
Thank you once again for helping to support public education!”

Funded Mar 9, 2016I cannot begin to thank you for your kind donation to our class. It is through donors like you that I am able to provide my students with alternative seating for our classroom.
The two arm chairs have been welcomed with open arms by my students. They provide an excellent way for my students to do their work away from their desks. Students have commented on the way the chairs are comfortable and how they can get their work done.
I am very excited to have the stability balls to add our flexible seating options. They are another way for my wiggly students to be more attentive during learning times.
Thank you once again for helping to bring these awesome resources to our classroom.”

STEM Station
Funded Mar 30, 2016Thank you so much for helping to provide such an important resource to my students. This mobile organization cart has been very helpful especially since I see more than 300 students a week. As the science/math enrichment teacher, I house many materials that are used by the kindergarten through fifth grade students that I see. We have been able to organize our materials that are used most frequently so that each item has its own place. This has done wonders to teach my students organization and responsibility.
The STEM resource books have given us many projects to take on using the materials we already have. My first graders have built bridges using craft sticks and my fourth graders have made parachutes. The projects from these resource books have provided my students with many engaging activities that have sparked collaboration, creativity, and communication--all skills needed as my students move up in the world!”

Whoo's in the Food Chain?
Funded Mar 9, 2016This has been one of our favorite projects to have funded this year! When I announced to my fifth graders that we were gifted an owl pellet kit, they were beyond excited. The timing for receiving this project was perfect. It was delivered two weeks before fifth graders started their state testing. It was the perfect way to keep my students engaged in a fun learning activity while they were focusing on test prep in their classrooms.
Students were paired up to work in collaboration with one of their peers to dissect their pellet. It was fun to see some of my more soft spoken students get down and dirty with their tweezers and showing the initiative with their partner. This was a wonderful learning day for students as they pieced their bones together to determine the contents of the pellets.
Thank you for helping to bring such a fun resource to my students!”

Arts + Science = Fun!
Funded Mar 10, 2016Thank you so much for helping to provide my students with these amazing and very useful resources. We were very excited to have our building engineer drop off a large number of boxes that we had to open them right there on the spot.
The microscopes have been very helpful especially when my kindergarteners were studying rocks. You should have seen their amazement when they placed a rock sample under the microscope to see all the nooks and cranies of the rock. They even put their fingers underneath to look closely at their skin. This led to many students looking for different items in the classroom to explore.
The art materials have been useful to us as well. My students used them to create kazoos made from recycled materials. We have been able to utilize the materials and the resources have sparked the creativity in my students.
Thank you very much for your support!”

Funded Dec 18, 2015I cannot even begin to tell you how much of an impact these resources have had on my students! Computation has been a struggle in our school and there has been a huge push for math fact automaticity. With these Math Tower games, my students have been able to practice their math facts in a new way.
The Math Tower games are perfect for differentiation because I can have several games going at the same time during math workshop which ensures that student needs are being met. My struggling learners have really grown to love fact practice because these games provide a fun way to practice simple math facts.
Thank you once again for providing my students with additional math resources to practice math computation!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Farhat
