Help Kids Discover Their World!
Funded Apr 1, 2014Thank you for helping us develop our classroom science center. The students were so excited when the "big" box arrived! They wanted to go on a nature walk right away to find things to put in our new critter box and bug viewers. The kids have enjoyed watching and feeding our tadpoles and are always on the lookout for new bugs. It was so nice to have a home for the things we brought back with us.
As I introduce each new item, the students want to know if this is something more from the "big" box in the closet! They used the eyedroppers in a hands on color mixing activity that had them waiting in line to try. They were amazed by the magnets as if they were watching a magic trick! During our dinosaur unit, students hunted for "clues" on dinosaur bones using the wonderful new magnifying glasses. Now, I have to keep a tray on the science shelf for "stuff" to examine that students have brought in or picked up. I can not wait to begin the classroom compost activity and the little garden, too!
These items have helped me be able to bring nature right up close and into the hands of children! Thank you so much for donating to our little project that meant so much to us!”

Funded Oct 3, 2013The items you helped buy have arrived! The students were so excited to see the newly set up library center. They said that it was an awesome place to go and look at books!
During center time, students spend time in a small group sitting on cozy cushions and beanbags or lying on the colorful new rug enjoying books that are displayed with covers facing out on the new bookshelf. Everything is so bright and inviting that students can't wait to curl up with a favorite book.
The new additions to the classroom have helped the students be able to take a more active and independent role in organizing and straightening the library. They are able to see books they want to read at a glance and put away books more easily. Also, It has enabled me to display books that go along with our units of study. Now, students don't overlook books that are seasonal, topic specific or of high interest.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bowers
