  • Reading with Clifford!

    Funded May 6, 2022

First of all, there aren't enough words to express how grateful I am to each one of you who contributed to my project!!!

Scholastic Magazines have always been important to me, as I grew up with them during my childhood academic years. As a student, I thoroughly enjoyed receiving the magazines every month and always looked forward to the next topic/theme it would bring. I especially enjoyed the activity that was always found on the back. Because of this, I became inspired to bring and share the same joy with my students.

Well my wish came true! When my students saw their first magazine, they were in awe! They enjoyed looking at the pictures, discussing them and ultimately working on the activity in the back. Thanks to technology, they also enjoyed the educational video that went along with the magazine as well as the computer game during center time. Scholastic magazines greatly combine and relate to our units of study as well as the children's personal lives.

We will always remember your generosity when using these magazines!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olivella

  • The World of Transformation: Butterflies!

    Funded May 4, 2022

As we are wrapping up our babies unit of study my students have learned a great deal about caring for and the growth of human and animal babies. When I brought in these animal babies, gifted by all of you, they were beyond excited.

I explained that now that they are experts in babies they would be able to care for these animal babies and help them to grow. My students will be able to watch them transform which feeds into our Transformation Unit of Study.

They will use journals and photograph their animal babies. They can make comparisons to themselves and discuss how they've transformed over time, just as caterpillars do.

Thank you so much for giving my students this amazing opportunity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olivella

  • Learning Through Centers!

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

First of all, there aren't enough words to express how grateful I am to each one of you who contributed to my project!!! Because of Covid and budgeting issues, it has been hard to supply our classrooms with all the needed materials for our students to be able to successfully learn and engage in activities! Because of your generosity and dedication to our children, together you all have alleviated these stresses and allowed our children to learn, grow and thrive!

When our materials first arrived in our classroom, I automatically saw the joy and excitement in my students faces. They couldn't wait to get their hands on their new center materials. Because of these new materials, they are more eager and motivated to learn and engage in various centers. Their creativity, curiosities and understandings are more evident with every new material they explore with!

Again, thank you for your kindness, generosity and support in helping to bring this project to life and supporting my students learning!”

Hi everyone! One of the DOE units in Pre-K is “Lights.” Unfortunately, I don’t have much room left in my classroom to house an actual light table, so this version of a “light table” is the next best thing! The children enjoy exploring with these tables, as there are many types of manipulatives that can be used with it! We can especially use it for math (numbers, shapes etc.) and literacy (letters etc.)! Any little bit helps to achieve my goal to help bring our unit to life! Thank you!
