Let’s Get Together!
Funded Nov 6, 2017We have received the beautiful classroom rug that we were able to purchase, only because of your donations. The rug is so bright and cheerful, it makes us happy every time we walk into the room. We continue to get compliments whenever visitors come in and I am able to share our story, of how we got it, we wouldn't have been able to get it with out the help of Donor's Choose and wonderful donors like you.
My students were so excited when they say the large package arrive. Our custodian delivered it to the classroom during the school day and unwrapped it for us, right then, during Math. The students immediately laid down on it, and said how comfortable it is to work on. They were intrigued by the STEM design on the rug. There are lots of symbols, I was happy to explain, thus they have developed a greater vocabulary, thanks to the rug. I gives us a place to gather together, as I often tell the students, "Meet me on the rug!"
We are so happy to use the rug as our meeting place and students can choose to use it when they are working independently. The oval shape gives us some guidance when we are trying to sit in a round shape, which is needed in Kindergarten.”

Funded Mar 10, 2016I am so touched by the support given to my class, not only from current parents, but also from past parents, from fellow teachers, from friends, from friends of friends and even from total strangers. My students are benefiting from your donations, already. We received our living room area furniture about 2 weeks ago. I had to be absent two days this past week. The substitute left a wonderful note, stating that she was hesitant coming into a class with no assigned seats, however after the first day she found that the way my kindergartners worked together and helped one another was a total surprise. She went on to say that our class is a very positive environment. I have uploaded a copy of the note with the pictures of our classroom, for you to see for yourself.
We have recently been discussing how sometimes we feel unsettled when we try something new; how it can be scary. I have explained to my students, that making this move to a no desks classroom, was scary to me. It was a new idea and I was uncomfortable, not knowing how I would manage it or how the students would react. I am able to share now, that it was the best decision I've ever made. I feel so blessed to have people out there that know me and my students and care that we get all that we need to be successful. I feel so grateful, that there are others, who have no idea who we are, but still want to help this teachers and her kids. Thank you all, so very much!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Melany Johnston”

Funded Sep 10, 2013My students and I were so excited to receive our new projector. Even, now, a month later, they are still surprised by how well they are able to see our lessons. They remind me of how it was when we all had to squeeze into a small space in front of the TV screen. Some of the components of our Reading program were not available for use on just a computer. Now that the projector is connected and the lesson is viewable, new whiteboard features can be used.
In the morning, students come into class and get their morning journals out. I am able to project our writing prompt up on the whiteboard for everyone to see. Later in the morning, we practice our sight words, on a PowerPoint. In the afternoon, our Math pages are projected on the board, so we can all use the iTools, (virtual manipulatives), and learn Math together. In the past, the students only had iTools if they were on individual computers, one at a time and I was not able to direct them in using the tools correctly. When we have time, I project a story book on the screen and we are all able to listen to the story and see the pictures clearly.
I know that without your help, we would not have the projector. It has become a necessary tool in the modern, technological classroom. My students and I appreciate you taking your time and money, to help us.”

Funded Jun 19, 2011My class and I would like to thank you for your generosity. The ipods that you helped fund for our class are in use, every day. The students use multiple apps to practice reading, math, science, and social studies. My students record their voices while reading to improve fluency. They have even utilized the camera and video camera to illustrate stories they have written.
The iPods you helped to fund would not have been possible without your help. I would not have been able to make such a purchase on my own. I appreciate what you have done for my students, giving them the chance to achieve beyond expectations.
My gratitude is immeasurable. ”
