  • TK's Person of the Week Library

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for your contributions to our book collection to support our "Person of the Week" curricular unit. Each week, students are introduced to a leader who demonstrates strength, courage, creativity, persistence, and many other characteristics we hope to model for our students. The age-appropriate reading materials truly help our students connect to each of our People of the Week. Additionally, these People of the Week expose students to diverse historical figures who represent athletes, activists, artists, and political figures from the LGBTQIA+ community, different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, and with different abilities. These children's books are enjoyable to read, but also open a world of learning for our students. Our sincerest thanks for helping us bring an important curricular approach to life for our students.”

  • A Diverse Library for a Diverse Class

    Funded Mar 2, 2020

These books were such an impactful addition to our online program in the 2020-21 school year. Despite many challenging circumstances, we were able to build connection with students and build empathy and compassion for differences across the digital space. We also used the many books about feelings to have concrete discussions about emotions to help students put words to the many feelings in their own bodies and those that they observed in their families. Books always build connection but this collection of books, in a year where connection was much harder to build, was extremely empowering for my colleagues and I to use with our students.”

  • Endless Learning Opportunities for ALL With Chromebooks!

    Funded Oct 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom technology. Our students are learning all subject areas through the use of our new Chromebooks. We are using technology during Daily 5, our Language Arts program that enables us to differentiate instruction for all learners. Students can read along while a story is being read to them on the computer. They can also practice any subject matter on Moby Max, a computer application that allows us to track student progress and cater to their learning styles and needs. We can't express how much we appreciate your thoughtful donation.”

  • Spruce Up Our Outdoor Play Space!

    Funded Jan 1, 2020

Thank you for helping us to transform our outdoor play space with the many additional play items you helped us purchased. As you can see in the pictures, our students enjoy playing with the number and alphabet stepping stones, the scoop and toss game, and most especially the yard legos. The new shelving unit has allowed us to bring a number of play tools into the outdoor space with the new ability to organize these items such that they are manageable to the TK and kindergarten students. By bringing these new items into our outdoor learning space, we have made the yard a more exciting place for students to engage in social interactions and cooperative play. Thank you for helping us bring this vision to life for the students!”

  • Thematic Dramatic Play is Best!

    Funded Aug 28, 2019

Our students have been greatly enjoying their thematic dramatic play bins. So far, students have enhanced their learning about farm stands, pumpkin patches, and life at home. As we provide instruction, students are able to practice and explore related ideas in a semi-structured way. We learned all about pumpkins and pumpkin patches, visited a local pumpkin patch, and then students were able to set up their own pumpkin patch in the dramatic play area of our classroom. We watched students buy and sell pumpkins, organize aesthetic displays, and replentish the shelves when supplies ran low. We cannot wait for this meaningful practice to occur in our upcoming units as well! Thank you for helping us to make this dream a reality.”

  • Our Little Hands Can Do So Much!

    Funded Dec 29, 2018

Thank you so very much for contributing to our "Little Hands" project - our students' little hands have been busy at work with our new toys. The magnetic art tools have been a wonderful addition to our fine motor activities - students have been using their excellent pencil grasp to hold the magnet wand and they have had to look carefully at the pattern cards to replicate the designs. Our new rug brightened our room and allows students additional exposure to letters as they look for their assigned rug seats. We are so thankful for the addition of these wonderful tools in our classroom.”

  • iRead and iWrite with iPads

    Funded Nov 29, 2018

Thank you so very much for your donations toward our kindergarten iPads. We have been able to use the new technology in our classrooms during the Daily 5 "Listen to Reading" center with great success! Kids love listening to fluent reading through this digital technology. Students have also used our new classroom tools to do digital art projects, record videos as part of our communities unit, and print pictures to use for various learning activities. And all of this learning wouldn't be possible without the durable cases to protect these iPads. Thank you from the whole kindergarten team!”

  • Learn to Play and Play to Learn

    Funded May 20, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our classroom. Our students have been enjoying the new toys and games ever since they arrived. Everyday we use these games, puzzles and blocks to work together and learn. Some days collaboration and cooperation come easily and some days these tools allow us to practice compromise and making adjustments as a group. Students are excited to play games and we are excited about all of the skills they are learning through these fun play experiences. Thank you for allowing us to bring these motivating tools into our classroom!”

  • Kindergarten Gets Hands-On with Word Practice!

    Funded Sep 27, 2017

My students love the new materials for literacy practice. Students enjoy reading to themselves using the phones and they enjoy all of the fun activities to practice their sight words. During literacy centers, students are all working independently to practice reading and building the words from their "good fit" sight word lists using the materials that they choose. All students are able to work at their own instructional level and with materials that are enjoyable to them. Teachers are able to circulate and support students in their literacy development. Thank you for your support toward providing these opportunities for our students!”

The students in our classrooms have a wide variety of academic and social skills. Our students may all be working on different skills or learning through a variety of ways, but they are all part of the same community and work best when they are all together!
