• On Your Mark, Get Set, Go Learn!

  My students are so excited to use their new school supplies and journals to write and draw. We are using the journals daily to engage students in writing letters, numbers, and sight words. Daily the students do directed drawings and write 4 sentences about what they are drawing which is all modeled by the teacher. The students will be able to see their amazing progress throughout the year, thanks to these wonderful journals, as they improve in writing and reading what they are writing. • This Character Looks Like ME!

  Thank you so much for your generous donations for books for our classroom. The books we received are great for my first graders. They are just starting to read independently and emergent reader texts are popular because they feel so much success being able to read them on their own and they have characters that look like them. Those moments of "WOW! I can read this," are so fun to watch. The science books are also an amazing resource to introduce students to informational text. The kids love learning about new topics. In this challenging time of education, we are making the most of each day we have together and the extra books are a big help as we can't share as much as we have in the past.

• Toolboxes for Everyone

  Funded Aug 31, 2020

  The Toolboxes have been a huge hit in 1st grade! Our students were intrigued when the large boxes arrived. Their interest peaked again when they returned from lunch on a Friday afternoon to find these new materials set out on their desks. We began our exploration right away. Students discussed ideas with partners and planned their design using pencil and paper. They made observations about the materials and how the materials might work together. Excitedly, the students got to work building structures, testing their ideas, and revising to make their plans better! For sure, these toolboxes will be in good use all year long.”

• I Can See My Teacher Now!

  Thank you so so very much, this has been a beautiful day, but the icing on the cake is yet to come. My students struggled with letter formation because they were not able to see me model the letters on the screen. With the drawing pad and ring light, students are able to see step by step as I model the letters and sentences.

  Without people like you, I could not do what I do with such ease. I am super happy that you have chosen this project to fund as it is so dear to my heart to bring my students together. I cannot wait to see them grow and learn how to write. I thank you a million times for helping me help my students! You have no idea how much I needed this, thank you for being my guardian angel!"”

• Calling ALL Minds with STEM!

  The Learning STEM bundle arrived and has been a source of excitement and inspiration for a couple of weeks. Even as young as they are, the students LOVE having the opportunity to work together to create a solution. I love watching them plan out their steps, some of them individually, others in teams, and then test their ideas.

  The first time we opened the boxes, it was like Christmas!

  The sounds of glee and elation filled the room. It was heartwarming to be a part of the excitement. I am looking forward to watching their problem-solving skills evolve as the year progresses and feel confident that these STEM kits will play a vital role in their academic development.

• Basic Supplies for a Good Start!

  It is with heartfelt gratitude that I send this note of thanks to you for your donation to my class project, Basic Supplies for a Good Start. When the kids went to distance learning back in March, I delivered to them the things they would need at home in order to continue with our 1st-grade year. That meant my classroom supplies were depleted.

  Thanks to your support of this project and a couple of others, I have been able to restock the room with most of what we need to be productive and successful this year.

  These pictures show the students, back in class, face-to-face (except with table dividers) working hard on regaining the momentum from last year. We use the journals and "word books" every day and their writing is improving very quickly.

  We write about all kinds of things, In some of these photos, the students are writing in sequence the lifecycle of a pumpkin. Mostly copying my writing models at this point, but many students are ready to start free-writing on their own. It is such an exciting time! It would not have been possible without your support. • A Breath of Fresh Air

  Funded Aug 3, 2020

  It has been really challenging to be back in the classroom, face-to-face, my 20 students and I have faced many obstacles. The factory produced dividers, individualized sets of EVERYTHING and so much more has been overwhelming. What hasn't been an issue is the air quality in the classroom. When I arrive each day at about 6:45, the first thing I do is turn on the air purifier. It has three settings and a timer option; I always choose high and 8 hours. Then I don't have to think about it again. Thankfully, because there are so many other things that need my attention, primarily, my students.

  Your generosity in support of this project has been appreciated every single day. Each time I create a project, I ask myself, "Is it important enough to ask friends, family, and strangers for money?" As awkward as it is, I don't post a project unless I can answer, "Yes".

  Thank you for continuing to support me and my students as we work to make this year as safe and successful as possible. So far, so good! Noone sick, no absences! That's hard to claim in any school year, much less this one. God bless you for your thoughtful support."”

• Perfect Storage for Flexible Sitting

  The classroom ottomans and headphone hanging organizer have been so helpful. Students can easily store their headphones without worrying if they are going to break in their seat pockets. The ottomans are all over the classroom for flexible sitting. They are perfect for the students's size. Students love to store their pencil boxes and books there. Some are used to store communal materials and students have easy access to them. Thank you so much for all of your support! Our class really appreciates it!”
