Good Citizenship is Rewarding
Funded Feb 14, 2024These prizes and school supplies have been a hit with students and teachers alike. Students have had fun choosing items like erasers and using them in class. We are celebrating a kindness week and students can earn extra "respect dollars" to turn in for even more prizes. We are seeing more good citizenship and cooperation than ever before! This is all thanks to you and your generous gifts. We really appreciate you supporting our positive behavior and good works. Middle school can be tough! These small tokens can really help a student go that extra mile.
Thank you for all that you do!”

Read Again
Funded Dec 11, 2022Thank you so much for contributing to this literacy project.
Students are excited to check out and read the hard copies of these books. We have a classroom library that students maintain and supervise. One of the most popular books are the Guinness Book of World Records and the Ripley's Believe It or Not series. Students who are not interested in other topics or fiction novels will always sit down and flip through one of these non-fiction treasures. Other students are looking forward to starting a new fiction series like Lockdown.
None of this would have been possible without your generosity! Thank you so much for thinking of our classroom when you chose a worthy project. We will treasure each book and keep it in good condition so it can be enjoyed over and over again.”

Ms. Zeglin

Funded Aug 19, 2021Thank you so much for funding this Samsung Tab S6 and wireless headphones. This technology helps students learn by giving them another device to use when they forget their school issued netbook. Students can also use and try various apps and programs on it and use the stylus. For example, when we have our study hall, students who are finished with their work can try to draw and color.
Another use for this device is for students to be able to listen to audiobooks and use the headphones to listen quietly. This allows students to see the words in the stories and also hear them, improving their reading comprehension. Students can also use Overdrive to read e-books on the tablets by themselves or with a friend.
Another great use of this tablet is for students to make videos and take pictures. Students can practice their photo and video editing. We have a book chat project coming up and students who do not have a phone can film with this tablet. Thank you so much for giving students all of these great chances to learn!”

Funded May 5, 2020Thank you so much for sending these books to our classroom. To say it has been an usual year is an understatement. These books have been a ray of light for our students who now come two days a week. They can sign these books out and read at home on their off days. The Giver quartet and Dogman series have been popular from the day they arrived. Other students like the history and "texting" book about Harriet Tubman. There is something for everyone. None of this would have been possible without your help.
Thank you again for making this time a lot brighter!”

Funded Sep 11, 2019It has been a very exciting week in our classroom. Students have been jumping in and using the very "useful" products that we have received. In middle school, you never have enough pencils, so the golf pencils have been very helpful. We also always need Sharpie markers and paper for our various writing projects. The post-its are a great addition to our close reading lessons. The markers and highlighters allow students to better annotate their texts.
One set of items in particular have really transformed the way students can work. The clipboards have been so helpful. Students often like to spread out their materials and sit on the floor while working in small groups. These clipboards allow students to easily write whether they are in the hallway or writing while standing. There is no more leaning over to write or trying to write on a folder, now students can move more freely!
This is all possible due to your generous donations. We really appreciate your support.”

Funded Aug 13, 2019I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for funding this project. Students are very excited to start using the escape room objects. As you may know, setting up this type of activity takes a bit of time. I am in the process of adapted some of these kits to reflect what we are learning in class.
As this is not many students favorite topic, this escape room will make the topic a lot less painless. Students have been looking at the kits and making suggestions as to what we can do. A big excitement has been caused by the UV light to write "secret" messages in the puzzles.
Another set of objects that students are already practicing with are the hidden Coke can, the secret compartment dictionary, and the water bottle container. Students are also eager to use the escape room kit that incorporates virtual reality. They can just pop in a cell phone and become even more immersed in the activity! Without you, none of this would have been possible! Thank you!”

Funded Dec 28, 2018Students were so excited to see these amazing prizes, stickers, and books that we received. Of course, while looking through the materials they wanted to dive in and start opening everything. I did have to remind students that they would have to do their reading and learning activities before dipping into the prize bucket. Please know that you have made a large number of middle school kids very excited to read and learn some new skills. They were already asking when they could begin doing some of the activities!
Thank you so much for choosing this project! The pencils, books, and other prizes will be huge incentives to motivate students to do their best and keep going, even when things get challenging. We really appreciate everything you have done.”

Must Read Books
Funded Nov 30, 2018Thank you so much for getting these awesome books into my students' hands. These books are absolutely beautiful and will be read and enjoyed for many years in the future. It is amazing to hear students who typically complain about reading even a short passage exclaim, "Can I take this book home?" There are very few students, even "mature" 7th graders who can resist the lure of pop-up books. Kids are very carefully going through each page and sharing what they are reading and learning with classmates. Usually, teachers want to encourage students in middle school to do more independent reading. Yet there is something fantastic about a quiet student opening a non-fiction book like The Guinness Book of World Records and start the, "Hey, take a look at this!" or "Wow, I can't believe this is true!" This sharing of information not only encourages reading, but helps students bond and form connections. In the cell phone age, this is a miracle.
Dearest donors, you made all these wonderful experiences possible for these students. Thank you and please know that you have made a great and positive difference in our classroom.”

Funded Nov 3, 2017I just wanted to take a moment and tell you again how much we appreciate your support! The paper, pencils, pens, tape, and all the other supplies have really come in handy. Just today in our social studies class, students were able to use the large sticky paper as a background for these large maps of the Nile that they were making. The tape was a huge help in securing the maps to the paper. Tomorrow students will use the Sharpies to label and add more details to each different point of the Nile. Without these supplies, we would just be using pencil that doesn't show up well and staples to hold together our projects.
Students have also really appreciated the extra lead pencils and lead. Today we were taking notes in language arts class when I noticed a student writing with a light blue colored pencil. It was wonderful to be able to offer that student a lead pencil to use so the student can erase and be able to view the notes later. Because of you, students who may not have the needed supplies, can now focus on their school work.
Thank you again!”

Ms. Zeglin
Reading Projects
Funded Mar 29, 2017Thank you so much for your kindness in donating these books to our classroom. The students are always so excited to open a new box of books that they can sign out and read at home. We have independent reading time twice a week where students can read anything they choose. Many students have already selected these books for their choice reading. The Orca sports collection is an especially big hit. Several students already finished one or two! Another book that students were particularly interested in was The Big Thirst. We have been studying water issues in social studies and this is an issue that students want to know more about.
Again, thank you for encouraging a life-long love of reading in these students. We will always appreciate your generous efforts.”
